Wifery 101

I've come to realise over the past few months, that I'm going to go into this marriage without a clue on how to be a wife. I know how to be a girlfriend and now a fiance, but no cooking (literally) clue on how to be a wife. And I know that everyone goes into it not knowing how to be a wife and that it's a learning process but, believe you me, that learning process started a while ago. And boy has it been hard. Hialriously funny, but hard at the same time.

There are a few essential skills that make a good wife, that I sorely lack. These you should know upfront so that, for any posts in the future, you will understand where they come from :)

I cannot, CANNOT, cook to save my life. Duane (my fiance) has, on one occassion said that he wasn't hungry just so that he didn't have to finish my stir fry. Yes, it was that bad and no, he's not a bad fiance, I even thought it was bad.
So there. I can't cook. So if anyone has some great recipes for me to try, HOLLA at a girl! :)

I hate doing the dishes with every fibre of my being. It's obviously not everyone's favourite, most chores aren't anyone's favourite thing to do but dishes really irk me. I'd take ironing over dishes any day. So until we get a dishwasher in the flat, who knows how I'm gonna get through doing the dishes next year. Yay.

Duane loves to pile. Okay, he is studying through UNISA so he doesn't always have time to do washing. But he loves to pile. His washing will pile up in the bathroom until you almost can't see the floor. And I can sit on it, sleep on it and almost live on it and my bum wouldn't get numb. So I'm for reals going to have to have a system for washing. Because the way he goes through clothes? Aint nobody got time for that!

So far, the journey of being engaged has yielded quite funny results. I cook a few nights a week at Duane's house and some meals I've made haven't turned out that great :) and I do washing to help Duane out every now and then. Turns out that putting two forms of washing powder (the powder and liquid, thinking the liquid was stay soft) only makes your clothes cleaner and more powedery and not soft like a baby's bum :) Oops!

Also, I've exploded 2 gem squashes in the microwave and now our microwave doesn't work :) but more on that another time - it deserves a post of it's own.
